The Power of Intention: Practical Ways to Make Better Decisions

The Power of Intention: Practical Ways to Make Better Decisions

Hi Hooga Family,

Our decisions have the power to shape our lives, for better or for worse. Yet, decision-making can feel overwhelming, leaving us paralyzed with indecisiveness, stress, and anxiety. Don't let the fear of making the wrong choice hold you back from living a life of abundance and fulfillment. Instead, empower yourself with practical tools to make better decisions and achieve your goals! Here are some proven strategies to guide you on your path to success:

1. Seek God's Presence and Guidance Through Prayer:

Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Making decisions can be a daunting task, but you don't have to go at it alone. When you seek God's guidance through prayer, you invite Him to join you on your journey. God desires to lead you to the ultimate destination, and seeking His direction is like building a bridge to the other side. Trusting Him may not always be easy, but every time you do, you align yourself with His will, and He provides a path to get you where you need to go. Remember, making decisions is not just about acting quickly. It may also involve seeking, waiting, planning, resting, and moving when Jesus gives you the green light. So take heart, and set aside intentional time every day to commune with God. You are not alone, and He is with you every step of the way.

2. Journal Your Thoughts and Feelings:

Making decisions can be tough, and it's okay to feel anxious or worried. Try journaling to identify and process those emotions. Write down what makes you concerned about your choice. Have confidence in the process and take your time. The answers will come.

Here are some journaling prompts to help you get started:

3. Weigh The Pros and Cons:

One way to reduce decision-making stress is to create a pros and cons list to help determine your values and priorities. Doing so will support you in making decisions consistent with your core principles, eventually leading to greater fulfillment.

4. Seek Advice From Others:

Proverbs 15:22 tells us, "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers, they succeed."

When you're facing a tough decision, it's normal to feel anxious and uncertain. Take the time to gather information and seek advice from people you trust, like friends, family, or professionals. Consider different perspectives to gain a better understanding of the situation. Remember that God is always with you, and He wants the best for you. He'll guide you as you navigate through this difficult time. By seeking His guidance and opening your heart to His wisdom, you can make a wise decision that aligns with His will. Trust that He'll be with you every step of the way.

5. Trust in God's Sovereignty and Compassion:

Remember that when we encounter roadblocks or make errors, we are not moving backwards but are making progress towards where we need to be. Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, especially with the words and tones of how you speak to yourself, for words have so much power.

6. Know You can Overcome Spiritual Warfare Because God is Victorious:

As believers, we understand that spiritual warfare is real, and when God has a plan for you to succeed, the enemy also wants to steal, kill, and destroy. When a thought, feeling, or circumstance occurs contrary to God's character or attributes, we can run toward Him, praise Him for who He is, ask Him for discernment and make our thoughts obedient to God and His word.

While decision-making can be complex, these practical tips can help you make choices that align with your values and priorities, leading to greater fulfillment and purpose. Remember that making errors or encountering obstacles is a normal part of decision-making, but trust that God is walking alongside you always.
